Enfranchising young people as co-creators to lead the future of global health governance

The Commission found that enfranchised communities and public participation are crucial for citizens to co-design the future of health governance.

Youth enfranchisement is therefore an integral aspect of the DTH-Lab with youth not only as benefactors but as partners in co-creating health futures.

By involving young people who are growing up in a digital world as key agents of change, the DTH-Lab ensures its work is relevant to young people’s health priorities and promotes sustainable and equitable solutions for governing health futures with and for young people.

Read more about the DTH-Lab’s guidelines for youth engagement  developed in collaboration with the Regional Youth Champions.

The DTH-Lab has several access points for young professionals passionate about digital transformations for health and co-designing a future where young people flourish. Through its partnerships with youth organisations, the #MyHealthFutures Youth Network and the cohort of Regional Youth Champions, young people are not just benefactors of the work of the DTH-Lab but partners in creating impact.

Youth
Stakeholders

The DTH-Lab works closely with young people from a range of backgrounds and disciplines through partnerships with youth organizations including the International Federation of Medical Student Association global and regional offices, WHO Youth Council and acting co-chair of working group on UHC (2023-2024), AI Future Lab (composed of the World Economic Forum global shaper network), Yet4H, the WHO Global Health Workforce Network Youth Hub, Young Federation Public Health Association, International Pharmaceutical Student Federation global and regional offices, Youth Health Organisation, WHO EU Youth4Health network, and others through existing regional/country level networks of the Regional Youth Champions. The DTH-Lab also aims to further develop partnerships with a focus on G20 countries as it is a good entry point with political relevance and high populations of young people.

Regional Youth Champions

The DTH-Lab’s Regional Youth Champions (RYC) are key partners in the DTH-Lab’s work. With well-established connections to youth networks at the regional and local level across a range of disciplines, the champions elevate the scope and scale of the youth engagement work of the Lab. The overarching goal of the cohort is to support young people at the local and regional level to become informed and enfranchised digital health citizens through concerted efforts that capture and reflect the diverse views and experiences of young people. The RYC support the Lab through network and partnership building, convening youth at the regional level, futures thinking/foresight initiatives and solution innovations.
